CureCoin allows owners of both ASIC and GPU/CPU hardware to earn. CureCoin puts ASICs to work at what they are good at -securing a blockchain, while it puts GPUs and CPUs to work with work items that can only be done on them -protein folding.

Curecoin launch date: TBA

Most altcoins are either in the CPU/GPU stage, or in the ASIC stage. CureCoin can be earned with both. Folders use high-end GPUs and CPUs to fold proteins, earning a proportional portion of coins set-aside automatically by the minting process for their contributions.

  • Mining: 32 coins per block (start)
  • 1 block per minute
  • Block-halving every 1,051,200 blocks (for an increase in value)
  • Folding: 32 coins per minute (start)
  • Reward-halving every 1,051,200 blocks
  • Rewards processed on a daily basis, based on points earned

    You say nothing about what it’s trying to Cure, i have seen other coins stating they work on finding cures for cancer and what ever… they will not find the answer being it has been and never will be allowed by Big Pharma….

      They are trying to connect with the Folding @ Home initiative which, if you weren’t already aware, is a real medical research effort developed by the Vijay Pande group at Stanford that has been using distributed computing for years even before Bitcoin to simulate protein folding (creation from aminos) and mis-folding, which is the root of many diseases. To answer your “Cure what?” question, Alzheimers and Parkinson’s to name a few – basically any disease that involve protein misfolding.

      Mining and folding: One is philanthropic the other is lucrative. Guess which one wins peoples’ gpu cycles. Since the advent of bit and altcoins, many folders including myself have switched to mine instead and the total horsepower out there in mining could do wonders for Pande’s research. Rather than create another scrypt coin, Curecoin is, afaik, trying to bring people back to folding, rewarding them for those work units with cryptocurrencies (premined I guess?). One obstacle is to get the official support of Pande Group. Another is the actual model of reward that preserves the virtues of crypto currencies.

      Hope that helps. I’m really excited about this coin, I’d love all that computation and electricity to be doing actual work again and still play this crypto game.

    Curecoin launched May 12th and is producing work units at astonishing rates.
