    Did the guys who wrote Avatar have this one all planned? In case you don’t know that clip, the nasty commercial manager in the off-world mining base was asked to mime twirling a one ounce thing above a round plate and then fake that it works as a hover-mat, rather like some superconductor demo hover-mats which work for real, but at room temperature, on his desk, as his office toy. The prop which the script implied was a lump of Unobtainium was described as “a one ounce lump of polycrystalline Germanium or a piece of best Welsh anthracite spray-painted to metallic charcoal-gray. I don’t care which as they’ll look the same”.

    At last we can make Unobtainuim real.
