Dogecoin blockchain bootstrap files

If you need to synchronize the Dogecoin blockchain the best option is to download a bootstrap file. Copy the downloaded files to your Dogecoin Core directory and start the client with –reindex and –rescan options to rescan downloaded blockchain.

Dogecoin bootstrap downloads

Use a torrent client (like qBittorrent, Transmission, Aria2, Deluge) to download the blockchain. It’s around 50 GB.

How to use the downloaded Dogecoin blockchain file?

Find your Dogecoin data directory:

Windows: C:\Users\USER\AppData\Roaming\Dogecoin (%APPDATA%\Dogecoin or %LOCALAPPDATA%\Dogecoin)

Linux: ~/.dogecoin/

macOS: Open finder, press Command + Shift + G and type ~/Library/Application Support/Dogecoin/

You can also check the path by going to Help -> Debug window -> Information -> Datadir in Dogecoin Core)

Remember to fully close Dogecoin Core again afterwards. Never delete wallet.dat, you will lose your coins.

Copy the bootstrap.dat file or the “blocks” and “chainstate” directories into the Dogecoin directory. It’s okay to delete any other bootstrap.dat in this folder if one already exists

If you want to restore an old wallet and you have a wallet.dat file, move the existing wallet.dat file out of the Dogecoin folder and the new one in before you restart Dogecoin Core!
